Stiff, painful shoulder

Shoulder pain is extremely common, as is the feeling of ‘stiffness’ that often accompanies it. Usually it is caused by sitting for extended periods of time in front of a computer, poor posture, and awkward sleeping positions. If any of this applies to you, try taking more breaks when you work and sit up straight as often as you can. The pain should disappear within a few weeks. At times, it can also be an indicator of a more serious condition.

If this pain has continued for months or even years, it can be a sign of arthritis. If it is sudden, has sharp bursts of pain and if it hurts on the top of your shoulder where it meets the collarbone, it may be a torn ligament. Though most of the time, it’s not too serious.
