Massage At Oxford Osteopaths

Massage is one of the worlds most under estimated treatments and in professional hands, massage can have profound effects.

Massage therapy is also clinically proven to help the natural healing process when treating sports injuries or, rehabilitation from surgery or trauma.

Here at Oxford Osteopaths you will find our massage therapists are properly qualified, experienced and insured.

Treatments can be tailored individually, depending on your needs or problem.

Swedish Massage is the foundation for other types of Western massage, including sports massage, deep tissue massage and relaxation massage. It is based on the Western concepts of anatomy and physiology, as opposed to energy concepts in Asian massage systems.

This massage can be slow and gentle, or vigorous and bracing, depending on the therapist's personal style and what they're trying to achieve.

If you want deeper work and can tolerate more pressure to get relief from chronic muscle pain, it's better to book a ‘Deep tissue massage’.

Relaxation massage is aimed at calming and relaxing nerves and muscles, it is a more gentle form of the Swedish style.

Sports Massage is aimed specifically at muscular strains and over use conditions. It's normally focussed on a single area of the body. Sports massage is not a substitute for treatment of sports injuries – These require a thorough examination, specific treatment and appropriate after care management and exercise.
